Business Card Printing

How Do I Print My New Business Cards?

You’ve wrapped up your branding process, approved your shiny new logo design, and now you have some print-ready business card files sitting in your inbox. What do you do next? You send those babies off to the printer so you can start handing them out!

When it comes to getting your business cards printed, we have three different routes that typically work for most small business owners.

  1. Work with a Local Printer. If you have a great local print shop and want to keep your dollars close to home, this is always a great option.

  2. Order Online from GotPrint.com. This our number one recommendation for budget-friendly but still impressive quality business card printing.

  3. Order Online from Moo.com. When you really want to go all out, Moo.com delivers. The absolute thickest, most luxurious business card you can order.

Let’s dive in to the pros and cons of both, as well as recommended finishes and features!

Local Printer

One great benefit of working with a local printer is that you can often come in and touch and feel paper samples, so you have a solid idea of what the finished product will be like. Local printers tend to be more expensive, but you get great personalized service and save on shipping fees. Keep in mind that if you use an in-person box store like Staples or Office Depot, they are most likely going to outsource your business card printing to an online vendor and mark up the price, so if you’re going local try to find a true local print shop to help you out with the job.

GotPrint.com

As far as budget printing goes, GotPrint.com is pretty awesome. They do send out paper samples upon request, but here is what we typically recommend for ordering settings:

  • Standard size (2” x 3.5” unless you have requested a unique card size)

  • Full color both sides

  • 16 pt. Premium Matte Cover or 18 pt. Ultra Premium Smooth White

  • High Gloss UV Coating front (this makes the cards thicker if choosing 16 pt. option and you like the glossy look)

  • Instantly Processed/upload your own files

You can also select rounded corners, and if you’re interested in raised or foil accents let us know prior to designing your card and we can format it to include it. It’s also worth searching for a coupon code online prior to placing your order or signing up for the mailing list so you can save a few bucks!

Moo.com

If you’re ready to invest in some top notch stationary, Moo.com is where it’s at. Go ahead and splurge for the Luxury Business Cards, and select the following:

  • Standard size (2” x 3.5” unless you have requested a unique card size)

  • Seam color (white looks great with any brand, but if another color matches your color palette and you like it, go with that!)

  • Upload a full design

You can select rounded corners if you wish, and since it’s an online vendor it’s worth searching for a coupon code or signing up for the email list to see if you can get a small discount or save on shipping.

That’s it! Was this helpful? What other questions can we answer? Drop us a line and let us know!
